Vitamin E-Bonded Dialyzers in nephrology:
from bench to bedside.

Vitamin E-bonded membranes are unique technology in renal replacement therapy. They are among the few examples of biomaterials functionalized with a physiological molecule and approved for a use in extracorporeal treatments.
The latest generation of Vitamin E-bonded dialyzers combines the highest standards of depurative efficiency with high biocompatibility and the bioreactivity of vitamin E, the most powerful lipid antioxidant in the human body.
Over more than twenty years of clinical experience, these membranes have shown:
1. an effective control of oxidative stress and inflammatory parameters;
2. to reduce erythrocyte damage and resistance to ESA, thus facilitating anemia management;
3. to attenuate leukocyte activation as assessed by transient (15 min) intradialytic blood leukocyte reduction.
